Hoffman to be unveiled at Brewers “On Deck”

This story was just in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

The Brewers will unveil their prize off-season acquisition –
all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman — at their “On Deck” event next
Saturday at the Midwest Airlines Center.

Hoffman, who agreed to terms last week and was officially signed
on Tuesday, will be introduced at a press conference open to the public
at 10:30 a.m. That presser will take place on the WTMJ Stage.

The Brewers also announced the schedule for player autograph
sessions, which I’m putting at the bottom of this post. Some autographs
will be free, others will cost as much as $25. The team is making
available 250 autograph vouchers on the day of the event for each
player and coach. Cash will be the only form of payment accepted for
autographs requiring money.

All fans who attend the “On Deck” even will receive a free Terrace
Reserved ticket to any one of the three games against the Cincinnati
Reds, April 13 – 15. Advance tickets for the event are $15 for adults
and $9 for children (aged 2 – 14). On the day of the event, tickets are
$20 for adults and $15 for children.

Tickets are available in advance at brewers.com and by calling the
Brewers ticket office at 414-902-4100. A portion of the proceeds will
go to Brewers Charities and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.

Photo sessions with players and coaches will begin at 11 a.m. and
continue in 30-minute sessions until 4:30 p.m. Fans are advised to
bring their own cameras. Photos are free.

How sweet is that?

You can bet your bottom dollar that as long as my wife and I are not in a delivery room at the hospital, we’ll be front row for this!

One of my loyal readers…Kaybee, over at her S.D. Padres blog-Unfinished Business, will have plenty of pictures of one of her favorites-Trevor Hoffman after I return from this event.

It’s always a thrill to meet a true legend of the game…especially when he’s still playing!

Of course, I have to make time to stop by my favorite current player’s autograph table, too!
Ryan freakin’ Braun!

This event is going to rock…

I hope you make it to the event – but I suspect if you and your wife find yourselves in the delivery room, even Kaybee will forgive you for not getting photos of her man Trevor! Good luck with both!

Happy, that’s going to be fun man. Tell me what’s your item of choice for getting autographed? Do you display them, or do you keep your autographs out of light? Just curious brotha…D

Happy,
I’m glad you’ll be able to go to this!! That’s so nice that you’ll be taking some pictures for Kaybee and I hope you get to meet Ryan Braun! He’s so good!! I saw him make this amazing catch while I was at a Marlins vs Brewers game. When is your wife due? That’s so exciting!

Julia…
Thank you so very much.

D…
My item of choice to get signed-if the player is a star enough to be able to buy an authentic jersey and make it worth getting framed, I would get that signed
ex. Todd Helton, Matt Holliday (former) or Troy Tulowitzki.
If I didn’t get a jersey, I would prefer either a magazine cover or a 16×20 photograph of the player.
ex. Helton’s been on covers, Tulo was on the Sports Illustrated last year with Braun, etc.
If I didn’t get any of those, an authentic baseball is always a great option (make sure they sign the sweetspot).
I keep my autographs out of natural light (in my man-cave). Artificial light is okay as long as it’s not directly on the autographed item.
Hope that helps!

Elizabeth…
Braun is a freak of nature. He’s my size but hits the ball about 100 feet further (amazing!).
My wife is due the end of January-any day now!!!

Kaybee…
Holy smokes! You did beat me to it! That shows what a great Trevor Hoffman fan you are-still following his career. Thanks for the plug on your blog-much appreciated.
That’s kind of ironic that we both blogged the same topic with links to each other’s blog, too!

Happy, that’s quite a dilemma you’ve got….Trevor or the delivery room. Keep us posted on which event comes first! I’m seeing this as a scene from a very funny comedy.

Braun is freakin awesome. You’ll have your chances to catch a ball off him for sure.

Jane…
hmmmmm-I always told my wife, “Don’t make me choose between you or baseball!” Funny comedy, indeed!

Jeremy…
I snagged the long ball he hit the day he signed his big contract with the Brewers. I’m not finished with that one. I want career #100. He needs 29 for 100-it’s mine!
